RE:             Executive Summary - M.S. in Mathematics, New Sequence in

                  Biomathemetics

DATE:       May 21, 2007

The new M.S. sequence will enable mathematicians to pursue interdisciplinary
research careers in collaboration with biologists. This proposal draws together
30 semester hours of existing coursework in Mathematics and Biological Sciences
and adds one new course, MAT 442 Quantitative Biomathematics (3 hrs.).  No new
funding will be required to offer this sequence, which is designed to
accommodate approximately six high quality students annually.
