ACADEMIC SENATE FACULTY CAUCUS MINUTES

December 7, 2005

(Approved)

Call to Order
Senator Fowles called the Faculty Caucus to order immediately following the Senate meeting.

Approval of Faculty Caucus Minutes of October 12, 2005
Motion:
By Senator Borg, seconded by Senator Coleman, to approve the Faculty Caucus Minutes October 12, 2005. The minutes were unanimously approved.

11.01.05.02     University Review Committee Revisions to ASPT Document Regarding CFSC Reporting Requirements

Senator Fowles: You have revisions to the ASPT Document regarding the CFSC reporting. The revisions are just removing the reporting of the budget increments by May 1, because sometimes we don’t know until July.

Provost Presley: That is part of the reason for this change. The other part is addressed by the last sentence. In Bruce Hawkins rationale, he provided that the recommended increments have not been reported historically. We can’t find evidence that it was ever been done. Probably because with the current policies, the date is no longer meaningful because we don’t used tiered evaluations such as merit, high merit, etc.

Motion: By Senator Borg, seconded by Senator Schambach, to approve the revisions to the ASPT document. The revisions were unanimously approved.

Election of Team Excellence Award Committee Member

Senator Al-Bataineh agreed to serve on the Team Excellence Awards Committee.

Executive Session:

Distinguished Professor Recommendations

The Faculty Caucus went into executive session to discuss the President’s recommendations for Distinguished Professor, per the exception to the Open Meetings Act established in Section 5 IL.CS 120/2, Section c, 1, which allows closed meetings to consider “The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body or legal counsel for the public body.”

The caucus concluded its business in executive session and returned to open session.
