Membership:   18 tenured faculty; one non-tenure track representative from each college; five faculty associates. Six (6) tenured faculty members per year, by the Faculty Caucus of the Academic Senate, for three-year terms. Election to be held during Spring semester after new Academic Senate has been seated. Each college will elect a non-tenure-track faculty member to a pool from which one Faculty Hearing Committee member will be chosen in cases where a complainant or respondent is a non-tenure-track faculty member. The pool shall be elected annually each fall. The faculty associates will elect five faculty associates to a pool from which one preliminary Faculty Hearing Committee member will be chosen in cases where a complainant or respondent is a faculty associate. The pool shall be elected annually each fall. Unexpired term to be filled by the first eligible person of those who, at the last  election, received the next highest number of votes. 
Ineligible to Serve: Department Chairpersons, members of Academic Senate, members of  University Review Committee, members of the Faculty Review Committee, members of College Faculty Status Committees, and Administrative Personnel.

STUDENT CENTER PERFORMING ARTS SERIES ADVISORY BOARD

The purpose of the Performing Arts Series is to provide arts and entertainment opportunities for the Illinois State and Bloomington-Normal communities.  Braden Auditorium is the showcase facility for the Series.  The Series also provides co-curricular opportunities for students by providing internships in music business and performing arts management.

Faculty/Staff: Three (3) faculty or staff members approved by the Senate (of which at least two must be faculty, one of which shall be from Fine Arts) to serve staggered three-year terms.

Students: Three (3) student members selected by SGA to serve one-year terms.

Community Members: Three (3) community members (proposed by Dean of Students and sent to Academic Senate for approval) to serve staggered three year terms

Ex-Officio: One staff member from the Dean of Students Office will serve as ex-officio, non-voting member.

Officers: A chairperson and a secretary will be elected by a simple majority of the PAS Advisory Board membership.

Function:  The primary function of the PAS Advisory Board shall be to make recommendations to the Dean of Students Office regarding the programming of performers and series formats.

 The Board will also:

  • Create and encourage activities that will enhance the understanding and awareness of the Performing Arts Series in the larger community
  • Assist with identifying, seeking and securing external funding
  • Promote relations with other arts organizations
  • Assist with selection of students for the Braden Internship program

Reporting

The PAS Advisory Board reports to the Dean of Students Office regarding policy and functions.

Membership: Apportioned annually; at least 1 member from each college, including Mennonite College of Nursing and Milner Library; each college with more than 100 tenured or probationary tenure faculty shall have one additional member for every additional 100 tenured or probationary tenure faculty members, or major fraction thereof.

Terms: 3 years; may not serve for more that 2 consecutive terms

Elections: Elected by the tenured and probationary tenured faculty by the respective college and Milner Library; faculty members in Milner may not vote for University Review Committee members in any of the college elections.

Eligible to Serve: Must be tenured faculty members excluding those holding administrative appointments.

In March 1999 the Rules Committee of the Academic Senate established the University Service Awards Committee.  The Committee will review nominations for two awards, the Outstanding University Service Award and the Outstanding Service Initiative Award.  The University Service Awards Committee will be composed of one member from each college, one undergraduate student and one graduate student and will report to the Provost. 

 Membership Composition:

1 representative from each college is to be nominated by the Dean

1 undergraduate representative is to be nominated by the Vice-Chair of the Senate

1 graduate representative is to be nominated by the Vice-Chair of the Senate

1 representative of the Provost's Office
